School and Library Visits
My school program consists of up to three sessions (45 min - 1 hr each), lunch with students and/or faculty, and an optional book signing (the school is responsible for book sales, but I can offer suggestions if you need it).
Each session focuses on the real behind-the-scenes process of how I create my books: inspiration, research, writing, sketching, revisions, and final art. Since I've illustrated picture books for young readers, novels, and my own graphic novels for older students, I am able to present to all grades. But no matter the grade level, each group will get a detailed look at my process.
I also offer workshops on creativity (grades 1-2) and making comics (grades 3-6). Each workshop is 45 minutes to an hour and may be substituted for one of the three sessions. Workshops are best for smaller groups (10-30 students). Note: The workshops focus on creative thinking, drawing, and writing but they do not have the in-depth look at my own books and process that you get with the presentations).
I can also focus on specific topics (writing, illustration, graphic novels, creative thinking) to fit your curriculum or student interests.
